Sokurov has made a few things i admire as well, such as Second Circle and Stone (i'm still trying to find a copy of that one). Speaking of Russian film, have you seen The Banishment (Izgnanie) by Andrei Zviaguintsev? i saw The Return, but must sit myself down and watch this newer film one of these evenings.
